New Beginnings

A lot has happened in the past 2 weeks that I don't know where to start. I keep thinking that I'd have too much "firsts" to list down in my year-end survey. My life has been a whirlwind of events, from thesis problems to URC to graduation to the friendskami college-ender to our US trip to tiring job hunting and then to actually accepting an offer and starting to work. Of course add to that the emotional side of saying goodbye to UP and making big decisions.

I guess the biggest decision I made this year was accepting the offer from hp. I had many options and it was difficult for me to decide (attribute that to the fact that I'm a Libran -- my excuse for the nth time.) But when I made the decision, I actually felt happy. Up to now, I'm still happy with how things are going with work and my trainings. Guess I made the right choice, huh?  

I'm just starting in the industry and I like having a positive outlook. Everyday I find a reason to smile and think God gave me a good day. In the future, the rhythm of going to the office and working will bring comfort. As for the challenges, I plan to face them head on. "God brings me challenges and teaches me how to be stronger everyday." It's just a matter of recognizing that. So to my dreams and aspirations, here I come!

Last Saturday, UAAP Season 68 kicked off at the Araneta Coliseum led by this year's hosts, Adamson University. I looove watching basketball games and I particularly liked watching UP's opening game vs UST. I screamed my head off at home during the last three minutes of the game. We won even with UST's nine-point lead in the remaining 3 minutes of the 4th quarter. Galeng! Ooo-nibersidad ng Pilipinas! Ooo-nibersidad ng Pilipinas! Ooo-nibersidad ng Pilipinas! Oooooooo!!!!  UP FIGHT!

After watching the game at home, I went to this sem's Cursor Acquaintance Party -- my first as a Cursor alumna. It's for applicants to get to know the org, its members and alumni. The theme this time was "beach." Though alumni were not required to come in beach attire, I came in one nevertheless. The first pic shows me with Pio's shark hat. Cute noh? Hehe.  I'm with Quel in the other pic (kita pa rin ang nasty tan lines -- kasama sa costume) and with the other alumni in the third one.

Cursor Acquaintance Parties have always been fun. But in this one, I really really had fun. I loved the presentations (Acti--hahaha, Acad--ang legacy ni Cha nasa AcadDance, Info--galing ni Pepoy, Fin--Mary had a little lamb?!?) and of course the game (na kinarir ng lahat *ehemquelandkayeehem*) There's no denying that I still feel at home with Cursor.  Tapos nakita ko pa Cursor crush ko. Haha.

Today is the big rally at Ayala Avenue. HP advised its employees to work from home and since I don't have work-from-home, i.e. no DSL, yet, I got a free day. I went to UP today to jog and have lunch with friends. I love jogging in UP because the view's never boring. Even just the trees are a feast for the eyes. I also love eating out with friends (Miki, Chris, and Rina <Chris's co-teacher>) at Mang Jimmy's and having another one of those laughtrip sessions. I also saw Cursor people and some highschool friends in Eng'g. The Eng'g Cup started already and it made me kinda sad to be missing all those games (brings back the memories of a CS basketball game in 2003 -- the only Eng'g Cup game I watched. Hehe.)

So much has been happening in my life and I feel so blessed. They say that with every ending, there is a new beginning. God has indeed given me a lot of new beginnings after the end of my college life. And with every beginning I'm experiencing -- as a new hire, a UP alumna appreciating UAAP, and a happy Cursor <and sexy!> alumna -- I intend to give my best. It's only now that I realize that I want to do so much in my life and that I have the freedom to do whatever I can. The possibilities are endless, as they say. I have so many plans and I want to check them off my list one by one -- may it be continuing to jog every Sunday, being a great alumna (UP, Cursor, Pisay), or finally finding a job as a writer (or taking writing classes) -- I want to say that I've done them all. In the future, I want to say that I've done everything that I wanted to do and I lived my life to the fullest.

Indeed, there will be many "firsts" in my year-end survey. That's a promise.
