Balimbing

Go Awind!!!!

Talo." At ang masasabi ko lang ay: Tumpak!

Broken Sonnet

My new favorite song! Kakadepress, kakasenti... Buong araw lang paulit-ulit to sa playlist ko! Hahaha! Hindi ako nagsasawa! Galing!

Broken Sonnet

- Hale

And now I concede on the night

of this fifteenth song

Of melancholy, of melancholy

And now I will admit in this fourth line

That I love you, that i love you

I don't care what they say

I don't care what they do

Cause tonight I leave my fears behind

Cause tonight I'll be right at your side

The clock on the TV says 8:39 p.m.

It's the same, it's the same

And in this next line I'll say it all over again

That I love you, that i love you

I don't care what they say

I don't care what they do

Cause tonight I leave my fears behind

Cause tonight I'll be right at your side

Lie down right next to me

Lie down right next to me

And I will never let go, will never let go

I leave my fears behind

Cause tonight I'll be right at your side

Lie down right next to me

Lie down right next to me

And i will never let go, never let go

But still I see the tears from your eyes

Maybe I'm just not the one for you

These Days

I need a different now

Where we can wear each other for a while

I'll lend you my tears if I could borrow your smile

We'll get through tomorrow somehow today

Happy After...

Once upon these days

- These Days by Chantal Kreviazuk

The lyrics were written by John Ondrasik and Chantal Kreviazuk. I want
to be able to write something like this. It's a smart play with words
that somehow makes perfect sense. If you know the song, then you'd also
know that the tune fits the words impeccably.

I'm hooked with this song because yesterday I bought the OST of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
at Greenbelt's Music One. And why, you ask, was I lost in a music store
in Greenbelt buying things that I wasn't supposed to buy? I was there
to meet my SMART OJT friends
for a long-ago-planned, frequently-postponed reunion. I haven't seen
these guys since June of last year. Unfortunately, the counting
continues for the others, since only four of us showed up. Haha.

KC, Allan, Alice, and I had dinner at Bola
where we looked like kuripot kids splitting the meals. But it was fun
-- it's always fun to share. We shared not only the food but also
stories of work (SMART, Intel, Unilab, +HP), vacations (Singapore,
Europe, China, USA), boards, and graduation. Afterward, we had coffee
at Bizu (after going to Coffeebean, Starbucks, Seattle's, and Max Brenner -- I swear Filipinos must be addicted to
coffee) where I had this notoriously thick hot chocolate. It was like a
Hershey bar melted into a petite cup. It was too sweet that I didn't
even finish the whole thing. But the macaroons in Bizu are really good.  You guys should try 'em.

It must be true that everyone is in Greenbelt on a Friday night. We
couldn't take 50 steps without seeing old classmates, officemates, and
friends. We saw SMART people Jaena, CJ, and Sally
at Bola. The UP Med/MBB/scientists (the ones who are obsessed with
genetics and DNA and joke about Gregor Mendel) were also there. In a
parallel universe I've taken Bio in college and know all these Bio/Genetics/Med people... But in the real
world I only know the Pisay people. Hello to UP Med/MBB-Pisay people: Mab, Mama MK, and Kurtish! I mish you guys!  Let's have lunch soon!
Alice and Allan also saw classmates from La Salle (I can't remember all
of them -- there were just too many) and KC saw some friends from
Ateneo.

Makati is such a small world. So much for the drama of anymosity.

Mata

Mata

Mojofly

thankful. :)

I was reading my old literary pieces late Saturday night, and look what I stumbled upon...

I
sigh and smile for all the times that you’ve been there for me and all
the times that you’d listen to my stories - no matter how trivial. I
smile remembering the times when you’d ask about how I was doing and
then I’d rant and complain in front of you. You’d just smile at me and
say, “Okay lang yan. Ikaw pa, kayang kaya mo yan,”
with such great confidence in me. I smile remembering the times when
we’d laugh at the littlest of things and I’d feel that everything was
in its right place. I smile for the memories of laughter, smiles, love
and support. As I’ve said before, these times with you are those that I
will remember forever: our memories of youth, lightheartedness, and the
joy we’ve found in our friendship.

That's exactly how I feel, and I am very, very thankful.

UP MBT

My late afternoon was sad and depressing, as I just finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, while watching what was possibly UP's last game of the season, against UE. These are two of the things that I am currently emotionally attached to: books and basketball. J.K. Rowling's ending to the sixth installment of Harry Potter was a depressing turnout. And halfway through my basketball game, it seemed like I was going to be sad after it as well.

I made it a point to watch this game because it seemed to be Abby and Jino's last game as Fighting Maroons. Everybody knows that I have a thing for Abby, but it isn't just his talent that I've been supporting, I'm a UP Men's Basketball Team fan through and through. I believe that UP's line-up for this year has a lot of talent, with Mika, Axel and Mike joining forces with original Maroons Abby, Nestor, Marvin and Jino. I believe that it wasn't just luck that made them win those six games. I believe that they would have made it. I believe that they -- we -- are not the Fighting Maroons for nothing.

If there's one thing I have to say about UP's MBT, I'd say that they play with a lot of heart. The team doesn't ever give up. I've lost count of the times that they're in a double-digit deficit, but would catch up and deliver an exciting game in the end. As I said, they aren't called the Fighting Maroons for nothing. They fight until the end. It was illustrated yet again in the game this afternoon. The game ended with a difference of 4 lousy points -- they were lousy, considering that UE was leading with as much as 17 points in the earlier quarters.

I am not sugar-coating our MBT. I know that they have a lot of limitations -- being able to sink those FTs, giving up a lot of turnovers, and having no one with a good outside shot, are just some of the many. I am just proud that even with these limitations, they still play well. I do not think the team is olats. I do not think that they are bobo. For some who just consider the outcome of a basketball game, the case may be so. But I watched their games and saw the many times that they came from behind. I saw how they challenged and even beat Final Four contenders. I saw their heart and will to win in every game. The team definitely plays well, I can say that. And the players are definitely not losers.

So for those who were asking if UP was a Pretender or a Contender in Season 68, then I would answer with much conviction that the team was a Contender. UP MBT's 3-0 start and 5th place finish wasn't just luck, it was more of heart.

For that, I and I'm sure a lot of Maroon fans, are very, very proud.

Next season, babawi tayo. Humanda sila.

tuesday.

Signing in as layla_1204...

Tuesday. I arrived early in the office again. Let's see who's online.

Status message: tuesday.

I've always considered Tuesdays as boring. It started when I was a freshman in high school and we had our lightest schedule on Tuesdays. Come college, I scheduled fewer classes during TF. Tuesdays were never special. They're not like manic Mondays, mid-week Wednesdays, almost-Friday Thursdays, or TGIFs. They're just plain boring. This particular day is not an exception.

Status message: tomorrow morning if you wake up and the sun does not appear... a... a... a... a... a... anlameeeg!

My MP3 of I Will Be Here just played. I remember a text message sent to me years ago that I found funny. It was also sweet though, because "but I will be there to hug you" was added in the end. Oh my God, this is cheesy!

Status message: even if you mean the whole damn world to me. i can forget you, wait and see. i can be strong even without you. i can't waste my life forever hoping you'd come back to me BUT deep inside i know i'll be waiting here for you...

Lea Salonga croons in my ears. I like this song. And the lyrics are so hopelessly romantic, I decide to make it the LSS of everybody in my YM list.

Status message: nakakainis pag nag-aantay

Eh nakakainis naman talaga, ah. Harumph, nasan na ba kasi yun?!?

Signing off...

I head to the gym for the first time. I'm with Arlene and Jena. I figure out how to operate the treadmill. Shucks, my mind doesn't work with these bulky machines... I did my first-time-out-of-UP cardio workout for twenty minutes. I left the gym to continue my "cardio workout" in the Makati walkway, en route to the MRT Ayala station.

To hanna_oi and geviv: Nakta ko si warren de guzman! Hehe!  D2 glorietta!  Ang gwapo!

Waaaah! I really saw Warren in Glorietta! I knew I'd see a UAAP player sooner or later in the Makati area! Well, Warren is just 3rd on my list (wahaha, may list!!!), next to the two Santoses. Hehe.  Cute talaga siya, tangkad pa.

A lot of things happened today. I guess I could make an exception. Tuesdays aren't always that boring.

Cursor Sexy++

My hair smells of cigarette smoke, it's 3:41 in the morning, and "S-I-L-I-N-G-G-I-N-I-L-I-N-G, S-I-L-I-N-G-G-I-N-I-L-I-N-G, Siling Giniling, Siling Giniling" is repeatedly playing in my head. Just some after-effects of Double Vision: The UP CURSOR 22nd Anniversary Party celebrated at Gweilo's in Eastwood City, Libis.

It was a fun night of seeing current members, co-alumni, and Cursor crushes as we listened to bands and partied the night away. Stonefree, Up Dharma Down, Giniling Festival, and Radioactive Sago Project were some of the bands who were there. Double Vision is a great conclusion to this year's Cursor Week, which included a film showing, the Sportsfest, Gawad Kalinga Build and @rte attack (a digital photography and design contest). Congratulations to the Execomm (Carlos, Egay, Ish, Nic, Charm, Anthonie, Daryll, Jael) and the members for a very successful Cursor Week!

Happy Birthday, Cursor!!! Cursor SEXY!!!
UP CURSOR: We're more than just an org, we're a family

Listen
By Stonefree

Close the door
I feel a breeze hold me please
I hate to be alone
It's a cold night, turn off the light
Come take my hand and...

Listen
to these things I have to say
please understand
she left me, all alone again

Clear the room
Of every memory
I don't want that song back on
It's an endless maze
Take away this haze
Please mend my heart and...

Listen
to these things I have to say
please understand
she left me, all alone again

Turn away
Don't want you to see me cry
I just want things the way they were
It's so hard to say goodbye
Wipe my tears and...

Listen
to these things I have to say
please understand
she left me, all alone again

This I ask of you
Please stay with me
Until she comes back
