Eres Tu

Sean Matthew Manotok was born on October 12, 2006. At last, another Octoberbaby in the family! :) He came home today from the hospital. You can see how proud his parents, titas, lolos, and lolas are. =) Welcome to the world, Sean! =)

Afterwards, Chris and I went to see Leng perform in UP Staff Chorale's 33rd Anniversay Concert at the Abelardo Hall in UP. They sang this song that I thought fit Baby Sean Matthew perfectly.

Eres Tu
- Mocedades

Como una promesa eres tu, eres tu,
como una manana de verano,
como una sonrisa eres tu, eres tu,
asi, asi eres tu.

Toda mi esperanza eres tu, eres tu,
como lluvia fresca en mis manos,
como fuerte brisa eres tu, eres tu,
asi, asi eres tu.

[Translation:]

Like a promise are you, are you.
Like a morning of summer.
Like a smile are you, are you!
Like (that), like (that), are you.

All my hope are you, are you.
Like rain fresh in my hands.
Like strong breeze are you, are you!
Like (that), like (that), are you.

Are you like the water of my fountain.
Are you the fire of my home.
Are you like the water of my fountain.
Are you the fire of my home.

Something like (that) are you
Something like the fire of my hearth.
Something like (that) are you

My Life, something like (that) are you.
Like my poem are you, are you.
Like a guitar in the night.
All my horizon are you, are you!
Like (that), like (that), are you.

Are you like the water of my fountain.
Are you the fire of my home.
Are you like the water of my fountain.
Are you the fire of my home.

Something like (that) are you, mmmm.
Something like the fire of my hearth.
Something like (that) are you
My Life, something like (that) are you.

The Octoberbabies

I guess the invite says it all. Haha, pinaghirapan ko yan buong hapon sa office ah. Hindi ako nakapagtrabaho sa distraction.

It's uncanny how Miki, Hanna and I were born within a span of 8 days. Having the three of us in one barkada only means we have the most googly-eyed and moodiest mix in the world. Well, it also means a bigger and more tipid celebration for us. We celebrated with the theme 'Happy Birthday!!!' at Pizza Hut in Glorietta and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Greenbelt. I came as a perfectly-wrapped present, hahaha.  We all had fun eating, taking pictures, talking, and leaving the cheesecakes uneaten in Coffee Bean as we were all so full.

Sa uulitin, pips

I guess this is what I should be thankful for this year. Having the Octoberbabies and the rest of the pips to spend my birthday with. I've considered this birthday as ordinary, not as special. But thoughtful friends make it a lot better. I just think of the blessings I've received this past year - all the things I've accomplished, all the stuff I've experienced, and all the places I've been - and I feel that everything is more than enough. I can't even believe everything fit within the span of 1 year. I am very blessed and now is the time to be very thankful. And I am.

*Thanks Chris Clarin for the pictures.

Girl-friendhood

One of the crafts I believe I've mastered in this lifetime is
girl-friendhood. In less complicated language, it's called being the
confidante of a love-struck/brokenhearted/advice-needing guy.

I'm happy to be blessed with guy friends who actually trust me with the
nitty gritty of their love lives. This doesn't only provide me with the
latest gossip (that I never share with other people, I promise!), but
it's a way of getting into a guy's mind (which I think will work to my
advantage. I think...).

I smile when I realize how soft guys can be inside. How they can be
such "girls" about what they feel for the object of their
affection/obsession/lust. Of how they can have a strong personality,
but get weak in the knees because of extreme beauty. Of how they
actually have emotions, and aren't just beings of practicality.

I love hearing their stories of katorpehan, selfless love, and sometimes, hopelessness. It's like hearing stories from
the other side of the fence. And when it's my time to talk, I do pray I
give them sound advice.

There are a lot of upsides to being a girl-friend, like being treated once in a while (thanks!!! ). But there are just some downsides: being exposed to foul language, arrogance, and sexism.

What can I say? They're guys!
