Our Great Galera Escape

Finally!

Summer is officially over, but we still pulled off our great summer
escape to Puerto Galera. Some of the things that made this trip very memorable:

  • Originally planning this trip in April or May, but finding
out that because of conflicting schedules (out-of-town trips, weddings,
seminars, a 2nd-year anniversary...) we had to settle with an early-June summer outing.

  • Lakas ng ulan with matching kulog at kidlat the Friday before our trip's weekend. "Just our luck," I was thinking. But everything was sunny and shiny the next day.

  • The FX ride to Batangas.
Lowbatt Miki and highly-energized others. Suddenly realizing how much I
missed the company of the Pips (and Leng's loud voice). Wala pa ding
pinagbago. Parang nasa NEC414 pa rin tayo.

  • Being harassed by the barkers at the Batangas Pier. Shet.

  • Upon arrival at Muelle, "Bawal ang tambay dito." Hala, ang taas ng pride at nagbukas ng payong sa tanghaling tapat. Sayang naman ang pride ko pag bumili ako ng coke sa kanila.

  • Overly-energized Miki and Leng on the ride to Oceana. "Wooooow!!!! Wooooowwww!!!!" with every peek of the ocean. Laughtrip, pares.

  • UBE (Ultimate Bonding Experience) with Hanna at our little low-tide island. Hmmm, nakakamiss ang college days, Han. Nung araw-araw ang UBE natin.

  • Volleyball na kinarir nina Jam, Miki, Leng at Von. Karir talaga, nagkasugat pa talaga si Leng.

  • Synchronized swimming
that can be used for blackmailing Chris, Rhea, Daniw and me. Gumagawa
pa lang kami ng steps, tawa na kami ng tawa. Kudos to Hanna, our
    director.

  • Dinner at Oceana.
Kantahan and kwentuhan to the max, not really minding the other guests.
"Mga bata sa Batibot, MALIKSI!!! masigla! Duon sa Batibot tayo na, tayo
na. Mga bata sa Batibot... Batibot... Batibot.. Batiboooot...
    Batibboooooot...!!!"

  • Addiction on foozball with Jam. We had a relay of about 10 sets. Our hands hurt so bad and we were sweating, but we still put up with it.

  • Chris's 5:15 AM alarm clock on Sunday morning. Oh my Gawd, kaya ka pala nagigising ontime. Alarm clock, cock-a-doodle-doo, and other what-nots all in one.

  • Island hopping to
beautiful islands. Taking pictures of the sunrise, the beach, the sand,
and of course, ourselves. Jumping a lot of times for that perfect "defying gravity" shot, to no avail. For our pictures, see them here.

  • "Hindi ako makapaniwalang natuloy tayo" and "Hindi ako makapaniwalang nasa Puerto Galera tayo" and "Para akong nananaginip" said about 10,000 times by each of us.

  • Snorkeling
at the coral gardens. Miki tying Chris's life vest so tight she almost
couldn't take it off. Feeding fish in the water, getting bit by small
    jellyfish, and seeing Dory!

  • The Ultimate Near-Death Experience (UNDE) that they surprisingly all loved. You wouldn't hear the end of the Banana Boat Near-Death experience.

  • Hanging out and having lunch at White Beach.

  • Our trip home. Tired and exhausted. But knowing it was all worth it.

  • Having this vacation with my closest college friends. It wouldn't
have been the same if it weren't for all of you. 'Til next vacation! Boracay! Bintan! Phuket! Bali! Santorini!
