First-Time Bridesmaid

In celebration of Valentine's Day -- or in order to have a reason to even celebrate Valentine's Day, I thought of celebrating the love of people close to my heart.

My parents, Sonny & Belen, have been married for 23 years. I am thankful for every day that they have been my parents. And I'm even more thankful for their sharing of love, not only with each other, but also with us, their children. I am proud to say that I have indeed grown up -- and am still growing up -- in a home cradled with love.

My grandparents, Cleto & Paz, would have been married for 61 years on February 6. Lola passed away in 2003. Before she died, I was still able to feel their love to each other. They truly defined the phrase: "growing old together." Even with the illnesses and problems that came with old age, they still stuck it out. Wow.

I'll be a first-time bridesmaid in Ate Cel (my cousin) and Kuya Sonny's wedding on May 13. I'm so excited that I even included the bridesmaid gown designs in this blog entry.  Motif is apple green and pink. The wedding will be held at the Lourdes Church in Tagaytay. I'm so excited!  We all wish the best for them and hope for a little Sonny-Cel kid soon. Since Ate Cel is the eldest of us cousins, her son/daughter will be my first nephew or niece! Yey!

Also verifying that love is in the air, wedding bells will be ringing for:
Cursor daddy and mommy, Rain & Lou
and
My college instructor Mam Joyce & officemate Harvee.

Of course, I can't exclude my pseudo-Nay and pseudo-Tay, Chris & Von from this list. They've been together for more than a year and it's good that within that span of time, we  somehow became a part of their relationship. What makes me happier is how Von became endeared to all of us and how we became endeared to him (Von, aminin!). I believe and know that this is it, Nay! This is it!

Love is in the air! And because I can't celebrate a love that's meant for me, the best I can do is to celebrate the lasting love of couples that I look up to.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
